Nikhil Chalakkal’s review for Carrots The Healthy Kitchen

We live in Koramangala, and had passed this restaurant many times while going along to Sony Signal. When we finally decided to try the place yesterday, we weren’t disappointed. The place by itself is very unassuming. No frills, no expensive decor, no central air conditioning or anything… just a bunch of cane furniture (which was quite comfortable!), a counter behind which the staff were sitting, a few wall fans and the likes. The owner was sitting at one end of the counter tapping away on his laptop. It seemed to be a very homely ambiance.

We weren’t sure what to order, so we asked for recommendations. That’s when they came down and helped us with our order. We chatted with her for a while about the restaurant – when it started, home delivery, what was different, where to get such food, why vegan, etc. She came across as very friendly and unassuming. All the staff as well were polite, and prompt (though it could be because there were only two other tables occupied).

Chilled Buttermilk was served (complimentary) – this was made out of soy milk. Contrary to my expectations, this tasted almost exactly like normal buttermilk. I also had a drink (cucumber, mint, lime and salt) which I don’t remember the name of – it wasn’t sweet, and I quite liked it. We ordered a Corn and Mushroom Salad first, and decided to share a Carrots Special Healthy Plate as main. The Salad came within five minutes, and the Healthy Plate took about 15 minutes. The salad was quite nice – well cooked mushrooms and grilled and boiled corn along with capsicum, carrots (obviously! :P) and tomatoes, with (I think) a lime dressing.

The Healthy Plate comprised of millet with tofu, vegetables, pineapple and watermelon and four different dips – hummus, mayo, carrot jam and one more (I don’t recall). I didn’t like the carrot jam much, but my wife liked it. We both loved the other three dips, and they went quite well with grilled tofu, grilled / steamed vegetables and millet. Even the fruits didn’t really seem out of place. I wasn’t expecting that we’d be full with this, but surprisingly, we were quite full by the time we finished, and despite the fact that there was no masala or anything else, the food was quite savory. Both of us quite enjoyed the meal.

We weren’t in the mood for dessert after the meal, so we ordered a coffee and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was made in almond / soy milk (not sure), but it was heavenly – some of the best hot chocolate I have tasted in Bangalore. The coffee was not too impressive, though.

It came to about 1k for the two of us, for what all we ordered. I felt that was fairly reasonable (though the coffee at 160 bucks may have been a bit on the higher side). Apparently they have a bakery as well, where you can order cakes and stuff from. All in all, a good experience. I’m not someone you can call a vegetarian or a vegan, but I enjoyed this – I’ll definitely be going there again, or ordering in from there.

Young And Hungry’s review for Carrots The Healthy Kitchen

I was feeling adventurous and had heard a lot about Carrots. Lots of people I know are vegans and thought I would give this place a try. My first impression, honestly was, not that impressive. The ambiance is dull, beige and homely.  I understand they want to stick with an organic/natural feel but would’ve liked to see more color and energy in the space.

We eagerly flipped through the menu’s and all the food looked amazing. I ordered the Tahini pizza, the Thai peanut salad, special cold starters platter (which includes delicious hummus, baba ganoush and tabbouleh) and the pesto paella.

Don’t be too quick to judge the food, because the presentation is rustic and honest. If you are a true meat lover, this meal might take a little bit of getting use to because the flavors and density of the meal are far different from what you are use to.

But it was a refreshing change to eat fresh, raw and simply cooked food. We interacted with the couple that run the place, who were enthusiastic and informed us that they deliver all over the city. If you live within a 3km radius your food can be delivered instantly, however if you live further they need a 4 hour notice.
All in all, it was a delightful experience! Bangalore is definitely catching up with alternative food ingredients and trends!

Pradeep Rajkumar’s review for Carrots The Healthy Kitchen

As a Natropathy person. I recommend this places- Koramangala is a gold mine for foodies but hard to find a medicinal place, if i leave my suburb when I miss the standard Health Zingo in Bellandur, Green glen layout.

It was 2 weeks before I was taken by my relative.
Juices and fruit juice. You can get the cleansing ones to..

I love their healthy pasta and as a chocolate freak . They have healthy German Chocolate cake.

They got wonderful options in fruits and vegetable dishes with less oil and I am partial commercial food person so this place will be in my heart..

All are welcome to make a frequent visit to this dining .. Cheers…

Aman Mahajan’s review for Carrots The Healthy Kitchen

Nice place and good food, with a valuable message.

Ate here 2-3 weeks ago and then decided to explore vegan options. Since then I’ve given up eating animal products altogether. Like many others, I’d thought vegan food was either bland or tasteless, and was pleasantly surprised to find this was not true. For anyone interested in exploring this lifestyle/diet, this is a very good starting point, as it also gives you an idea what it’s possible to make at home using simple and healthy ingredients. It’s also a relief to eat food that tastes good without supporting animal cruelty that is often openly condoned in our society.

Not just vegan, but also very low on oil or salt, and with many sugar-free desserts, it’s possible to eat a full meal here without feeling drowsy or lethargic. An uncommon feat 🙂

In addition, a friendly and helpful management and staff. Thanks to them for conceiving of and running a place like this in Bangalore.
